Sometimes I look up at the night sky
Wondering where I came from.
The twinkling secrets glinting
From galaxies away
Leaving me here -stuck
On Earth.
Sometimes I wonder –
What I’m doing here in this body
What I’m doing here in this world
That endlessly confuses me,
Where my legs still feel as shaky
As matchsticks and I am lost.
Why did we come here?
I love this planet
I love the minerals in my bones
And the way we start small
And grow like beanstalks
As we bump into boundaries
We don’t yet understand,
Testing the mechanics
Of a fresh new skin suit.
I love the way we grow taller
Then smaller and twist over
Growing flowers from decay
Renewing and refreshing
Every single day.
