How to love a woman (2/3)

If you’re going to love me,

You’re going to have to understand

That you are loving a landmine,

And an incorrectly placed foot

Has the power to detonate.

And I try to lessen my destruction

I try to be less of a storm

I try to be less pure emotion

But that pure emotion

Will wash over you

And fill you up like water.

If you’re going to love me,

You’re going to have to love mess.

Sticky hands and late nights

And running for no reason

laughing for no reason

living life like a full meal

Delicious, filling, and sometimes

Hard to digest.

I will sing for you if you ask,

I will tell you every day

How much you are worth

And how much life can be

Spectacular and unfair

And spectacularly unfair

Because I know.

And when you hurt

I will carry your pain

If it’s too heavy for you alone.
